Siapakah ZUL-QARNAIN ???

Yusuf Ali mengidentifikasi bahwa Zul-Qarnain adalah Alexander the Great ketika dia mengatakan:

"Personally, I have not the least doubt that Zul-Qarnain is meant to be Alexander the Great, the historic Alexander, and not the legendary Alexander..."[ The Holy Qur'an, Translation and Commentary by Yusuf Ali, Appendix 7, page 763 (1983)]

dikatakan olh Yusuf Ali bahwa dia tidak mempunyai sedikitpun keraguan bahwa Zul-Qarnain adalah Alexander the Great .

Tetapi tampaknya kita harus bisa membedakan antara Alexander the Great versi Qur'an menurut Yusuf Ali dengan Alexander the Great dalam Sejarah

Zul-Qarnain digambarkan dalam qur'an sebagai seorang yg saleh:

He said: "This is a mercy from my Lord: But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into dust. And the promise of my Lord is true. (Q. 18:98, Yusuf Ali's translation)


dan bagaimana Allah berbicara kepadanya langsung :

Until when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water. Near it he found a People. We said: "O Zul-Qarnain! (Thou hast authority,) either to punish them or to treat hem with kindness." (Q. 18:86)

Dalam catatan Sejarah siapakah Alexander the Great:

Alexander the Great bukan seorang mukmin.

Di Memphis Alexander mengorbankan korban kepada Apis(salah satu dewa2 Mesir) dan telah dimahkotai dgn mahkota bertingkat sesuai tradisi Firaun

Encyclopaedia Britannica, Alexander III, 1971 "Alexander consulted the god (Ammon) on the success of his expedition."

Alexander berhubungan dengan dewa (Amon) dalam kesuksesan perjalananya.

Encyclopaedia Britannica, Alexander III, 1971 : And "On the Hyphasis Alexander erected 12 alters to the 12 Olympian gods."

Di Hyphasis , Alexander mendirikan 12 altar untuk 12 dewa2 Olympia.

Di Mesir, Alexander telah diterima sebagai putra Amon (dewa Mesir). Dewa ini digambarkan olh ram, dengan 2 tanduk dan nama Zul-Qarnain sendiri berarti 2 tanduk.

lebih jauh , terlihat bahwa ia menjadi yakin akan keillahianya dan utk diakui olh yg lainya..dalam perintah Spartan terbaca, "Sejak Alexander berkehendak menjadi tuhan, biarkan dia menjadi ilah."
